![]() In July, I decided to try out 2 boxes for the first time. I especially liked the EWG worm hooks I got because they were sticky sharp out of the packaging making hooksets easier on lighter tackle. I received some really good baits in the box and loaded up on early summer bass with the crankbaits and soft plastics I had received. I decided to give the Regular bass box another shot and this month, it really delivered the goods. I personally liked my April Trout box more than my May bass box. Some of them were just okay but still caught some small bass. When I got my box, I got 5 baits and some of them were exciting. Most of the online unboxing videos are centered around bass. In May, I decided I wanted to see what all the fuss about the Bass box was about. I probably caught 13 trout in total and released them all. On an opening day of the trout season, I nailed the brook trout and caught 2 nice brown trout as well. I got some more awesome looking trout lures in my box. When that box arrived mere days before the opening Saturday, I could not have been more excited to fish. I got a second Trout Regular box shipped. With the first day of trout season in my state arriving this month, I went all-in on trout. Still, I definitely got some crankbaits, soft plastics, and a spinner I was excited to tie on. I didn’t get to use any of the lures that month as I waited for the snow to melt and the first day of trout season to approach in April. ![]() With the opening day of trout season approaching, I decided to try the Trout Regular Box for my first installment from MTB. These are baits no one else around me even knows about and ones I never would’ve discovered without MTB. I have re-ordered more than 10 lures that are not staples in my tackle box and will be going forward. Plus, whatever lures you fall in love with, you can simply order more from Karl’s. I feel like the boxes are very reasonably priced and when you figure out how much you’re saving on lures, it pretty much pays itself off. You are bound to get at least a couple per box that are true home runs. Not every lure I have gotten was a hit for me and my fishing goals, but that is why getting 4-7 lures per box is so beautiful. I have caught walleye, yellow perch, crappie, various species of trout, and bass using these baits. Most of the lures I have received are ones I’ve used to catch fish. If you are serious about catching fish and having an advantage over other anglers, you really need to check out this program. I think Mystery Tackle Box is well worth the cost for a monthly subscription. It’s such a simple process but sure to introduce to your new favorite fishing lures. I believe that Mystery Tackle Box was the first tackle box subscription service though I could be wrong. Every month for as long as you maintain a subscription, you will get a new box full of awesome lures sent to you and you are free to change up the species’ box you get sent simply by emailing customer service. Once you get the lures shipped to your door, start fishing. Once you have selected your species, MTB will send you between 4-7 or so premium-quality lures, hooks, or baits that you cannot just find in regular stores. Most people seem to pick bass but I have loved what I got for walleye, panfish, and trout so far. You buy a subscription of either regular, pro, or elite and select the species of fish you want to target. The concept is quite simple but ingenious. These lures are hard-to-find in regular bait stores and are selected to catch fish in the season your box arrives so you can catch fish that same day. ![]() ![]() Is Mystery Tackle Box worth the money? Mystery Tackle Box is a really good value for the quality of lures you receive that are all marked down well below retail price, sends you specially curated boxes full of lures, hooks, and baits hand-selected to catch the fish species of your choice.
